Organisations and Teams

Tailored interventions to help your organisation or team thrive in complexity

Over the last decade, I have developed, tested and fine-tuned multiple ways to create impact in organisations and teams. From tailored workshops and talks, to group and team coaching interventions, to leadership development programmes.

Like my work with individuals, my work with organisations and teams is based on the question: how can I help you to fulfil your potential and thrive in today’s complex world?

That has led me down many routes and to work with many organisations, from one-off keynote talks to leadership programmes and more.

My work with organisations and teams is always bespoke: there’s nothing off the shelf, because no two teams or organisations are the same.

Read on below for some of the ways I’ve worked with teams and organisations to drive change.

If we work together, we might do one of those. Or, more likely, we might create something new together, especially for you. And isn’t that exciting?

Keynote Speaking and Workshops

For change at scale: designing and developing interactive keynote talks and workshops that lead to actual change in your people’s day-to-day lives.

‘Robbie Spoke at our conference and his enthusiasm and energy were utterly infectious. He engaged and inspired participants and added real momentum to our internal coaching programme. We are hugely grateful to Robbie for sharing his insight and expertise.’ Air Marshal Clare Walton, Director General, Defence Medical Services

Leadership Programmes and Training

The outer results of a team or organisation depend on the capabilities of the people involved.

'As a true believer in the power of creativity to fire us up and get us into action I see Robbie as a real leader in the field. His ability to excite and inspire even the most reluctant participants is really impressive. Whether in academia, tech, finance, culture or anything in between, Robbie will help you put aside the noise and focus on what is really important to you.' Jo Hunter, CEO, 64 Million Artists

‘It was a pleasure to work with Robbie and Nicole on our professional development event for UCL graduates – Mastering your Personal Brand. They brought a huge amount of enthusiasm and creative ideas to the planning process making and helped to shape the event. The workshop was extremely well received by our alumni and we received a wealth of positive feedback.

Robbie and Nicole set the perfect tone, timing and delivery for the workshop and you could see they had the full attention of the audience. The content of the workshop was expert without relying on jargon and contained the perfect balance of practical tips, relevant anecdotes and interactive elements. They answered questions thoroughly, responding to the audience in a succinct manner without losing the flow of their presentation. I felt that our alumni went away with some valuable ideas and practical solutions to help them with their professional development.

I would recommend Robbie and Nicole not just for their knowledge but for their ability to gauge the needs of their audience and to deliver a workshop that fulfilled the needs of a group of young professionals in a diverse range of careers.’ Andy Harris, 2016

Coaching is hard to describe and to understand conceptually: it sounds simple, and yet it can be magical. There's really no substitute for experiencing it, but to help you get a real feel for what coaching can be like, you can watch these videos of full sessions with real people, working with me on issues which are important to them in their work and their lives. If you'd rather listen only, you can download this audio of the session with Ed, this audio of the group session, or this audio of the session with Alex. Team Coaching and Team Development

Whilst changing the individuals in a team or organisation will have an impact,

‘I lead a team of talented and highly-experienced people who aim to enhance the quality and volume of research at King’s College London.  We have grown substantially over the past 5 years, in both scale and remit – with more people covering a wider range of activities, including research strategy, research development (supporting grant applications), research data and more.  As the team’s size has increased, we have increasingly felt the value in (and need to create) a very clear definition of our purpose, values, ways of working, priorities, and partnerships.

This type of work requires highly-skilled input – going beyond “facilitation” of discussions to build a sense of shared purpose, and to distil this into meaningful, practically-useful concepts.  Based on previous work with Robbie, I was confident that he would rise to this challenge.  In particular, I believed that he would gain the trust of a group who may potentially be sceptical external facilitation.

I worked with Robbie to move from my somewhat vague idea of the purpose of the activity, through defining the required outputs, to designing a series of workshops/events to deliver this.  His input at this planning stage was excellent – he listened (and heard), helped to clarify my thinking (I think I inadvertently got some valuable coaching), and led the development of the events.  During the workshops, he gained the team’s trust remarkably rapidly, and created an optimal balance between stimulating thinking, keeping everyone engaged, and retaining the focus on our objectives.  He also provided valuable initial write-ups of each workshop for me to work from.  Each workshop was adapted to reflect the outcomes of the previous one – a process of continual refinement.  The outcomes of this piece of work exceeded my expectations – in particular with respect to both clarity and tangibility – we are already using the principles in our day to day work, including in circumstances where we have a difficult decision to make.

Robbie has something special which enables him to get the best from groups of people – and from my perspective, this is based on his authenticity as a leader – he genuinely wants to understand, to help, and to deliver a valuable outcome.  I would recommend him to anyone in need of facilitation and leadership for this type of activity – and indeed for anything in the coaching, team building landscape.’ Tom Foulkes
